Pharmacology

Garcinia cambogia:

Sanskrit name: Vrishamla

  • The HCA extract from Garcinia cambogia aids fat loss through appetite suppression and by reducing the body’s ability to form adipose tissue during the times of over eating.
  • HCA also plays an important role in directing the fat towards glycogen which is the important energy source for burning of fats.
  • HCA has shown to be a potent inhibitor of ATP citrate lyase enzyme. Thus reduces lipogenesis.
  • HCA has been shown to increase serotonin availability, reduces appetite, increase fat oxidation, improve blood lipid levels.

Piper nigrum (Pepper)

Sanskrit name: Maricha

  • Piperine enhances the thermogenesis of lipid and accelerates energy metabolism in the body.
  • It enhances digestion process by helping faster break down of larger fat molecules into easily digestible simple molecules and prevents the accumulation of fat in the body.

Commiphora mukul

Sanskrith name: Guggulu

  • Chemical constituents present in guggulu are Guggulosterone E, Guggulosterone Z, Sesanin, Camphorene and Cambrene-A.
  • Oral administration produces lower cholesterol levels and lessening serum turbidity.
  • Some research studies also suggested the cholesterol lowering effects of Guggulu.
  • It acts on all the three components of lipid profile – HDL, LDL and triglycerides.

Zingiber officinale

Sanskrit name:Sunthi

sunthi1

  • The main constituents in ginger are phenolic compounds such as gingerols and shagaols and sesquiterpenes such as Zingiberene.
  • Few research studies strongly recommended that ginger has fat burning and metabolism accelerating properties.
  • Ginger reduces Triglyceride and cholesterol levels and thus helps in improving cardiovascular health.

Cyperus rotundus:

Sanskrith name: Musta

  • Cyperus is a tonic to digestive system. It acts as an aromatic, stomachic, carminative and cholagogue with astringent properties.
  • It enables fat burning by inducing thermogenesis.
